AWARDS
JLSB BEST PAPER AWARD
Papers presented at the meeting will be eligible for publication in the Journal of Legal Studies in Business (JLSB). If you wish to submit a paper for the JLSB Best Paper Award, you must upload it via the "JLSB Best Paper Award" link on the conference webpage.

To be considered for the Best Paper Award (which carries a cash prize of $150) the paper must be submitted by October 15, 2024. As part of the award, the Journal shall have the right of first refusal for publication. This means that authors should submit a paper for this award ONLY if they will agree to publication in the JLSB. The winning article and all other articles accepted for publication will appear in the next volume of the JLSB. Only one award submission per author is permitted.

The JLSB is a blind-peer-reviewed journal that is indexed in Cabell's and the Index to Legal Periodicals. It has a national circulation with over 700 subscribing libraries. You can also attend the meeting and present a paper without submitting it for publication.

SEALSB BEST PROCEEDINGS PAPER
To be considered for the Best Proceedings Paper Award (which carries a cash prize of $150) the paper must be electronically submitted via the "SEALSB Best Proceedings Paper" link on the conference webpage by the October 15, 2024, deadline. Entries must comply with JLSB submission requirements. Only one award submission per author is permitted. Submissions may not have been accepted for publication or published at the time of the SEALSB conference.

LARRY A DIMATTEO SENIOR SCHOLAR AWARD
This award is made possible by the generous support of the Warrington School of Business at the University of Florida in recognition of Larry A. DiMatteo, a distinguished scholar, and long-time member and former president of the Southeastern Academy of Legal Studies in Business.
Selection Criteria: This award is given every other year, in even-numbered years, and includes a $100 cash award. The Senior Award shall be given to someone who has produced a level of scholarship deemed to be extraordinary. The nominees shall be at the rank of Full or Associate Professor, have been employed as an instructor of legal studies for a period of at least 15 years, and have been a member of the SEALSB for a period of at least 6 years.
Nomination Process: The award shall be determined by a committee comprised of the previous award recipient and two other members appointed by the Chair from the ranks of former recipients of the awards and/or former past presidents of the SEALSB. If the previous award recipient is unable to serve, the president shall appoint the committee. Any SEALSB member, including the award committee members, may submit a nomination for the award via the "Larry A. DiMatteo Senior Scholar Award" link on the conference webpage in even-numbered years.

SEALSB JUNIOR SCHOLAR AWARD
This award is intended to recognize SEALSB members whose careers show exceptional promise based upon their early accomplishments.
Eligibility: To be eligible for the award, a nominee (i) must have held a full-time position as a professor or instructor of legal studies in business at a college or university for no more than eight years, and (ii) must have been a member of SEALSB for a minimum of three years.
Selection Criteria: The Junior Award shall be given to someone who has produced a level of scholarship deemed to be extraordinary given the limited number of years in the profession. The Award criteria include quality of scholarship and promise of future scholarship.
Nomination Process: The award shall be determined by a committee comprised of the previous award recipient and two other members appointed by the Chair from the ranks of former recipients of the awards and/or former past presidents of the SEALSB. If the previous award recipient is unable to serve, the president shall appoint the committee. Any SEALSB member, including the award committee members, may submit a nomination for the award via the "SEALSB Junior Scholar Award" link on the conference webpage by the October 15, 2024 deadline.

THE MALCOLM ABEL DISTINGUISHED SERVICE AWARD
The Malcolm Abel Distinguished Service Award recognizes individuals who have given outstanding service to SEALSB, and is given every other year, in odd-numbered years. The Distinguished Service Award includes a cash award of $100. The award is named in honor of former SEALSB member E. Malcolm Abel, in recognition of his exceptional commitment and dedication to the organization. The award shall be determined by a committee comprised of the previous award recipient and two other members appointed by the Chair from the ranks of former recipients of the awards and/or former past presidents of the SEALSB. If the previous award recipient is unable to serve, the president shall appoint the committee. Any SEALSB member, including the award committee members, may submit a nomination for the award via the "Malcolm Abel Distinguished Service Award" link on the conference webpage in odd-numbered years.

SEALSB SCHOLARSHIP
The SEALSB Scholarship funds a deserving business legal studies scholar’s travel to the annual Southeastern Academy of Legal Studies in Business conference held in November each year. The goal of the award to is to partially underwrite the attendance of a scholar who would otherwise not be able to participate due to financial constraints.
The criteria for consideration are:

The candidate is a SEALSB member in good standing;

Scholarly promise;

A written commitment by the candidate that, if selected, he or she will submit a quality scholarly research paper of original work to the conference program chair by the year the candidate is seeking support; the paper may not have otherwise been published in any journal or proceedings at the time of the submission;

Financial need as evidenced by a letter from the candidate’s department head indicating that the candidate requested financial support from his or her institution to fund travel to and participation in the SEALSB annual conference but was advised that funds were not available for that purpose or were limited to a specified amount.

Candidates may be self-nominated or be nominated by another SEALSB member.
At the board's discretion, the award will underwrite up to $2,000 in registration and related travel expenses (hotel accommodations, airfare, etc.).

A cover letter with the required certifications, vita, a list of other academic conferences attended in the previous twelve months, and a brief abstract of the paper to be presented must be submitted electronically by close of business on September 15th to the SEALSB President.
